Extruded Cut Error on Solidworks

Hi,

Something strange has happened to my solidworks today. Whenever I want to create a circle in an extruded boss it automatically assumes I want to make an extruded cut of this circle. I don't want to make an extruded cut of this circle, I actually want to extrude it but because of the cut I can't. On Feature Manager it says there has not been an extruded cut but there quite clearly has been, meaning I can not delete the cut. If anyone knows how to fix this and if I need to reset any settings and so on, I would appreciate a reply.

Can you attach what you have. When you created the extrude did you have the circle in the same sketch? If you create an extrude that has a closed contour inside of another solidworks automatically create a voi there. If this is the case you can use the contour select tool to select what you want to extrude and not extrude.

No, I am not in an assembly. When I opened SW I selected "Create new part" But thanks for your help.

I'm new and quite frankly a bit rubbish at SW so tell me if this is what you meant. I created the circle first (Radius 0.899mm) then I exited sketch and extruded it (0.25mm) then I created the next circle (0.6mm) and was hoping to extrude that (2mm) to create a pin. The file I have attatched, the circles were not created in the same sketch but I have tried creating in the same sketch and the same problem occurs.

Thanks to both of you for your help, the file is attatched on the original post. Forgive me if you can't open it, I'm new to the forums as well as the software!

In the part you shared there is only one sketch with two circles so what you got is normal.

Try this:

Create a sketch of a circle then extrude it. Once it is extruded create a new sketch of a circle on the face you want the boss to go and then extrude that.

Good afternoon Harvey,

Sounds like you are in an assembly trying to extrude, open up the part file and work from there. Or edit the part in the assembly, you have to be in the edit part mode,
