I have cut my assy in half and have used a symmetry constraint. I have applied 1/2 the load. Do I need to double my results?
You can verify this with a simple model. I will upload an exmaple when I get some time. In the mean time, take a look at this: http://www.pveng.com/FEA/FEAGeneral/SimplifySymmetry/SimplifySymmetry.php
As long as your geometry, BCs and loads are symmetric you dont need to double the results.
Hope it helps.
What kind of analysis are you doing? For static analysis, if you are looking at displacement and stress, no you dont double the results.
IMO yes you would need to double the results as you have applied 1/2 load with Symmetry Restraint.
Sorry my assumption was not correct.
If you have applied 1/2 load on a half symmetry model then there is no needs to double anything. Just do a free body diagram and see for yourself.
go Sandeep go.
