If a MS Excel table is created in a SW part to create configurations and then that part is opened on another computer that does not have Excel. Will SW be able to change configurations without Excel present?
all of our computers have excel, so I can't check, but I am almost certain that you only need Excel to open/edit/create design tables.
I would expect the non-excel user could do everything else to the model, including switching configs.
Confirmed this now, I uploaded a file to a forum and everyone can switch configurations without Excel.
You can't edit them of course but you can switch them.
i had a similar problem
i had made a design table in excel 2010 and my employees had 2003.
you can do anything in solidworks but as soon as you try to open that design table you will get an error.
I believe that this is most related the options of your design table. If your model allows model changes update design table then the modification without a excel is ok, otherwise you are stuck., as usually this case design table has formulas and all kinds of things you do not want user to mixup by modifying model and updating design table with dummy values.
