Does AutoCAD have design-table like functionality like Soldiworks?

Question asked by Matthew Neesley on Dec 15, 2011

Hello everyone:

I have an unusual question.  I'm enamored with Solidwork's ability to drive designs with configurations and design tables.  Now, does anyone have an idea if AutoCAD can be made to act the same way?  I have a client that wants to be able to input measurements into an Excel spreadsheet and have those values drive an AutoCAD drawing for making compression fittings (people with circulatory problems).

The dimensional contstraints that were introduced into ACAD 2010 work great, the "Parameters Manager" window lets me re-name the dimensions and control their values....the fact that I can re-name these parameters must mean that I can somehow control them in an external simplified spreadsheet-style interface, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how.  Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks in advance for any informed replies!
