Hopefully someone will know if and how this could be possible....(regedit??)
What I would really love to do is make my default output at DXF/DWG export be DWG
Thanks!

John,
I can always count on a quick reply from you! It is when I do a save as, the dialog box comes up as DXF as a default. Our vendor uses the DWG to import. We used to supply the DXF, then they upgraded and it eliminates a step for them. Now it adds a step for me. Isn't that always the case!
I'm sure it's buried in the registry, I wouldn't mind editing that just that I wouldn't want to waste a day looking for it. I'm sure the pro's at SW would know how to do it off the top of their heads.
Thanks!
Bernie
Good afternoon Bernie,
I forget, what version do you have?
When I do a save as; the dialog is set to .slddrw and then I have a choice of either dxf or dwg.
I just know enough to get me in big trouble.
What would be really sweet is to be able to print to file using the printer icon. Where you add a printer and that printer would be either a dxf or dwg printer, then you could set it as your default printer, the same as a pdf printer..
Later,
John
Good Day to you too!
I'm running 2011 still, we'll upgrade as soon as our main vendor does.
DUH! It's on saving the flat pattern. Sorry! Export Flat to DXF/DWG. (I see Scott McFadden just popped up with an answer!) That's where I want it to be DWG.
I do use a macro from the drawing window. It saves my IGES, and saves a PDF and a DXF file of the drawing in one click. Let me know if you're in need of that. I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult to modify.
Thanks!
Bernie
Bernie,
I looks like a macro would be the best solution to do what you are looking for.
Maybe post this in the API portion and someone can write one for you.
Scott,
Thanks! A macro would work too. I would just rather change it in the registry. Please note that it was on export of the flat pattern. I want the default to be DWG. I could do the macro, but my VB experience is rusty to say the least.
Now to see what Kelvin Lamport has to say! What a great system and even better group of people we have on here!
Bernie
Good afternoon Bernie,
Can't you do a save as?
Maybe I'm not seeing what you want?
Later,
John
