I've installed the student edition 2011-2012.
The only options I have to save a file are: .drw .slddrw .drwdot .edrw
No pdf, dwg or dxf!
How is this possible and what can I do?
Welcome to SolidWorks forums Nicolien.
Student version has some limited option as compare to commercial version. In case you need PDF files, you can install free PDF writer/printer (Cute Pdf Writer) and then when you print your files, select this printer. Using this you can generate PDF files from SolidWorks.

In de previous version of SW 2010-2011 I could save DXF etc.
Any idea why it changed, and can I change it by an update or reinstall?
What do you think?
I'm not sure if that option was there earlier and have been removed now.
Look at Student Software Support for further information/help. Also move this question to Educator / Student section on this forum.
If you make a drawing from your part/assembly, you should find dxf is a save option from there.
I know how to make a dxf of a drawing but right now it doesn't work. I can't choose the dxf or dwg option. I've downloaded the pdf printer so that problem is solved. But it's strange that I can only choose .drw .slddrw .drwdot .edrw to save my drawing.
And I really need to make a dxf of my drawing..
If you upload your drawing here one of us might be able to create the dxf for you.
thank you scott, I'v asked somebody else. But I posted my problem here because I want to be able to do it myself.
I'll try to reinstall it tomorrow, maybe that helps..
Thanks so far!
