Mating a sphere and cylinder

I created a sphere using a semi-circle and roatated boss. On one face of the sphere, I had an extrude cut of cylinder. My second part is a cylinder I created. I want to mate the cylinder and the sphere so that, the cylinder can fit into the sphere. I am using mate, but my cylinder would still move. I am basically creating an Organic Chemistry Kit, I hate attached what I am looking for. Do anyone has any suggestion to have I should connect the sphere and the cylinder.

Mate a plane between the two then make the sphere tangent to the cylinder.

  Does it matter which plane you mate? Becuase, sometimes instead of the cyldiner getting attached to the cut on the sphere, it will be mated to other faces of the plane

Can you share your files so that one can look at your model/progress and suggest you the best way as there are lot of ways to mate a sphere with cylinder. Like for example you can use their origin/planes for mating but this will depend on the way you have done modeling or how you want them to be mated.

Hi Hiwot,
You Can mate the Temporary Axes of Cylinder and Cylindrical Cut.

to See Temp Axes got to
View -> Temporary Axes

Now You can have a Point on one face of cylinder and another on Center of the SPhere and Give a Distance Mate.
