I'm trying to draw a slot drain that falls 4" and when I loft the ends it will not show the bend line in the flat pattern.
thanks Danny thats exactly what I ended up doing. We made this part last week and the customer seamed to be happy.
btw I spoke with my tech support and they said it was impossible for solid works to create bend lines for this part
Good afternoon Nicholas,
Sheet Metal Lofted Components don't show the bend lines.
I would suggest that you make a solid model and then use either the shell feature and then add the sheet metal features or use the convert to sheet metal feature.
unfortanatly I have tried it that way and it wont even convert to sheet metal
Did you loft the part or extrude the part??
You need to shape the part using the extrude features not the sheet metal features,
PS: What version do you have??
Why do you have so many Sheet-Metal# in there, you only need one.
Sorry, I didn't add much to this conversation...
You can't convert to a sheet metal part because you don't have any planar faces.
I better add something constructive...
This isn't a general case or anything but you're in luck with your part.
If you look at the edges of your flat pattern you'll notice the edges for the bends. You can make a sketch on your flat pattern and draw in your own bend lines, making them coincident with those vertices. One thing you'll notice though is that the vertices are actaully at the start of the bends and not at the theoretical center point, but that's not a problem. Make another line (as shown in the picture) that is parallel but offset.
Pain in the bum, I know, but at least it will get you by for this part.
