Is it possible to weld edges of sheet to build a box?
Look at enclosed picture.
Yes and there should not be any issues until you've some special corner requirements.
We've tried in different ways and we can't.
What do you mean "special corner requirements."
Are you talking about modeling or actual manufacturing? My answer was more specific to manufacturing instead of modeling. In the modeling I would suggest you to put an annotation in the drawing using weld symbol.
we are talking about modeling of course. And I'm asking about part, not drawing.
Can't open your file right now but in case you're not able to generate the weld bead, you can model one using extrude/revolve/sweep features.
Sorry just checked and found that weld bead can't be used on single body part, you'll have split them into minimum two parts. Best will be to make one using extrude/revolve/sweep features.
Off course you can model the closure of the joint.
Just use the weld bead function
Welded Corner Function does it.
Plain and Simple
I was trying this option first. (welded corner). It is not working on my part. Could you attach an example using my part file from earlier messange?
Here I'm enclosing example of using welded corner. This is the only way to use it.
Disadvantage is that I can't import it to drawing. Almost useless anyway.
Second disadvantage is that it isn't look like welding.
I need well done model for mechanics and well done drawing for manufacturer.
