I currently have my drawings title block info being pulled out of my part custom properties, my question is if there is any way to have a custom properties that would update the part from the drawing.
I think you can get what you want from SWs "Titleblock" set up - it allows you to enter part custom properties from the drawing. in the help here:
This works well, and if all else fails I can use this, however, I was wanting to use the custom properties tab on the task pane to edit the part and the drawing. If I make a change in the drawing, I want it reflect the part properties
I don't believe that is currently possible, might be a nice enhancement though. maybe have the property tab "focus" on what ever view is selected, like how you can select a part in an assembly and have the property table "focus" on that part.
I am curious as to why you need the drawing to drive the model?
when Solidworks is set up to do the opposite.
Because if I want to change the print, for example add a note that requires me to make an EC, I want the part to be up to date when I need to open it next.
Not sure what "EC" means, but why not just create the property in the model and have
it drive the property embeded into the note.
The only option I can think is via some macro
I am pretty good with macros, but wouldn't even know where to start on this one. Could you help?
While you're in drawing, the macro will open the part (by referring to one of the views) updating the part properties and close it. I seems to remember somebody shared a similar macro on this forum but can't find it right now.
