Are images that are inserted into a drawing sheet embeded and travel with the SW drawing if sent to a collaborator, or are they refreenced and need to be sent along with the SW file?
Using SW2011 & SW2012
If you insert an image into a drawing, into a sheet on solidworks it is not referenced. It is like inserting an image into Microsoft Word or Excel and is saved within the document, and travels with the document.
the easiest way to do this which I am sure you know is to go to solidworks upper toolbar and Insert>Picture and then select location
Thanks Russ, that is what I was hoping.
As Scott suggested, I do keep the images and all other related files together in their respective master folder(s), but this lets me know I don't have to send the image folder as well.
Russel is correct, but if you are insecure about this you can always add the image
file to the design binder found in the feature manager tree and that will travel along as well.
A really good suggestion actually I put all my inspection sheets and images in there anyways as a backup.
Yes I like this tool. Very handy when needing to keep associated files from
MS Word or Excel as well.
Only downside is it makes the SW file larger.
