I'm trying to simulate gravity acting on an assembly that is a length of steel link chain. I've set up the chain, and also a body for it to fall over top of. I can get gravity working no problem, but I can't get the Contact feature to work - the chain just falls through the body I want it to fall on top of.
Can anyone help?
I dissolved your sub assembly and pattern group and floated the fixed link. Use motion analysis. Set solver under optionans/advanced options to WSTIFF.
Box select all the parts and make the contact group. You only need to run analysis for 0.5 sec. as it is extremly slow to solve.

See attached. The problem is the way you created the assembly. All the links need to be separate instances of the part so that they can interact. Using a pattern doesn't work because they are just copied to specific locations. Also, put all the links in the top level and get rid of the flexible sub-assembly.
I did not think that this would solve using Basic Motion, but it did which surprised me. The attached file was done using SW Motion which gives a better result. I also reduced the value of gravity to slow down the animation and then only ran it for 1 second.
