Hi, I'm currently working on a project in Solidworks and it would be helpful if I could export the generated bill of materials solidworks provides into a Microsoft Word table. There are some tweaks that would be necessary to the bill of material but I thought it would be important to find out if this is even possible first?
A SW BOM can be saved to Excel, Text & CSV formats.(.xls, .txt & .csv)
MS Word can open or import all those formats.

If you RC in the upper left corner of the BOM like Kelvin said
You can drop down the choices here
And select Text which will open up in MS Word.
Thanks guys, this is very helpful. I suppose my next question takes this a step further. Solidworks has presaved templates for different bills of materials. However, I am trying to make Solidworks export a BOM that is similar to an existing template I already use. This particular bill lists all the parts in the different subassemblies in which they fall under but does not duplicate a part listing even if it falls within multiple assemblies. For these parts, it also lists a column for a description, material & ADD, and quantity. My overall goal would be to create some kind of macro that can be clicked for an assembly and export it to a table is Microsoft Word that contains this information. Is this possible?
Glad to help. Not being an API or macro expert, I am pretty sure the export to
MS word is possible because that is an operation that just involves SW command
sequences. When it comes to asking a different software to perform commands
in the same sequence, that is where I think the issue might be and probably wont happen.
I hope this makes sense.
Bottom line is I think you can get the macro to perform the SW end, but I still think there
will be some manual labor attached to complete the task.
