I am trying to figure out how to redirect the location that pdm works saves the PDF files that are created during check-in. The default is that they are saved to a local temp folder on each users computer. I would like them to be saved to a network file location where the guys out in the shop can open up the pdf drawings for reference. I know this is possible because I worked at a company prior to my current job that did exactly this. I can not for the life of me figure out how to do this?

Welcome to the forum.
If you double click on the path at the top it gives you an option to browse for a new location.
You can also change the default location in the PDM options.
Thanks Scott, but I believe you are referencing where the actual part or assy file is to be located. This is not what I am looking for. PDM works has an option available that I have selected to generate automatic pdf files during checkin. These pdf files do not have an option in the area you are refering to.
The selection that Scott is referencing is where the files are saved to when checking out a file. I have not found any way to change the default location when checking in a drawing with the automatically generated pdf.

I don't have PDM workgroup in front of me so I was recalling from memory.

Actually you were partly correct. I went to pdm options and was able to redirect those automatic pdf files to a network folder. It's weird though, the pdf file will only show up after you have checked in the drawing, and then open it as a pdf from the vault. I can open the folder and simultaneously see the pdf file show up as i select "view document as pdf". So if you never view the file, it will never show up in the folder.
Here is a possibility that is not terribly problematic. There is a choice in Task Scheduler to allow you to export pdf's from the vault to another location. It is pretty handy and can work on projects in addition to individual files.

I just posted a macro at https://forum.solidworks.com/thread/49782 that adds some more options to the PDF export abilities of the vault. It interfaces with the Workgroup PDM API just without the fancy interface of the Task Scheduler. You could still run it as a scheduled task, though.
This is exactly what I was looking for! This will make things sooooo much easier. I've never added a macro to solid works though. How do I do it?
