We are just about to start using PDM works and I have a question about how often a user should check files into vault.
At the moment we have revision system that goes from A to Z for "in work" which then changes to a numerical system (00, 01, 02, 03, 05 and so on) once released.
Given that there are only 26 letters in the alphabet it seems to me that a user who checks files in and out of the vault constantly during the design process is quickly going to run out of revision levels. (unless there is a way to prevent "in work" files from updating the revion level every time you check them in.
One way of getting round this would be to have the designers stick to working in their local folder for as long as possible before transferring the files to vault but the downside of that is that the files arent on the server and arent getting backed up each night.
Im a bit confused as to what is the best working practice. All our products are fairly simple with usually only 20 to 30 parts and it rare that two users would be working on the same project.
Thanks in advance for any help.

There is an option to use a working revision. You can choose which symbol to use. Like that, the actual revision won't change to another major revision. For instance, you are working in revision B and you check in, it will change to B+ or B working (depending on what you choose to use to indicate that it is a working revision... Does this seem usefull to you ?
Forgot to mention, you can find this option in the vault-admin under the revisions tab.
On the client when checking in, you will find the option for choosing a working revision in the check-in window... (don't have a pdm installed on my system so can't make any screenshots)
