I fully defined a rectange then did a linear pattern, but the copies are not fully defined. Why aren't they?
Take the construction line that was create and constrain it. Your sketch will turn black. Usually need to add a Vert or Horz constraint.
Thanks. All I needed to do was add a horizontal constraint to the construction line.
You can also add an angular dimension to that and shoot your pattern off on an angle.
You will need to add a couple of constraints to make it fully defined. Usually a dim for the spacing and a mate between edges to keep them horizontal or vertical.
Good question. I've often pondered the same, but unfortunately I don't have an answer.
However, the simple workaround is to select the Add Spacing Dimension option in the Linear Pattern Manager, and then apply a horiz or vert constraint to the centreline that is created between the first and second instance.
