it has been a while since i tried to do this, and i know there is a way to do it. we are creating new workflows, and i want cad files to go to a specfifc state when checked in
You need to right-click the workflow, select Properties and then set the appropriate conditions.
Remember, you can also use categories to make it easier.
i have tried that, but it doesn't seem to want to work.
Oops...missed the state part Was thinking workflow.
As Corey pointed out, you must have an initial state. Make sure that the state has permissions set for the users.
i am not quite sure you understand what i am trying to do. i want SolidWorks cad files, when the are initially checked in
to go directly to a specific state in a work flow. for example, a new part, when it gets checked-in for the first time, i want ot go to a state called document creation. i have set-up a category for cad files.
Hi Mike -
In this case you need to have multiple transitions (probably automatic) from the initial state in the workflow to the desired state based on a condition in the transition (ie: variable value).
This actually pretty easy. Just hit the 'Intial State' button the workflow.
This is very easy.
From what i unerstand is you need to chekin the CAD files (Which qualify for the catagory od CAD file you made) in a State and other file in some othe state.
If you have 3 State say State1,State2,State3
make State1 "initial"
make two transition from State1 to State2 say "Trans_Other" and "Trans_CAD"
In Trans_CAD put the transition condition as Type=Catagory;Argument = "= Cad file (name of ur catagory)" and make this transition automatic
In the othe transition make the argument "!=" (this is optional).
