I'm creating custom RAL sprayed painted appearance starting from red spray paint.p2m
I add this red spray paint appearance, edit only the color and save as.
The preview still remain red and not yellow.
Where I wrong ?
The same behavior is on SW 2011 SP5 or on SW2012 SP0.

I haven't been able to solve this problem, it seems to be related to the lack of a preview of some custom matirials when they are created.
The only workaround I have found is to start with a similar colour, change the properties that you can in solidworks then edit the shader details manualy using a hex or text editor, even this is hit and miss.
I can't get this to work either, i think the most appropriate SPR is 619584 Previews of appearances are different between taskpane and DisplayManager. But it woudl be best to raise it with your VAR as they will be able to get SolidWorks to check it is a bug and assign it to the correct request for a fix. The more people that do this the higher the priority

We have to hex edit shader definition files? I was hoping to be able to "reroute" texture color from diffuse to something else - in my case illuminance (TV screen illuminating with visible texture). I've even looked into Blender, but conversion is too time costly to be used in production.
As for the bug, yes, I've notices things I try to change within appearance settings not having any effect. Like matte steel behaving differently than brushed steel (iirc), in that the settings doesn't allow me to completely get rid of reflections in one material (despite being zero'ed out), while it works well in the other. Or diffuse level having no effect whatsoever on some materials, without leaving me a clue as of why.
