Anyone else seen this? I'm suddenly getting a big black bar that pops up when solidworks trys to print or save to jpeg (attached is an example). I've tried updating to 2011 sp5 (from sp 4) with no change. I really don't want to move to 2012 yet.
Close all files in SolidWorks and go to Tools > Options > Performance. Now select the option "Use Software OpenGL" and hit OK. Open your files and check else test your card here:
Try turning on software OGL and see if that stops it. If so, graphics driver or card is the issue.
Software OGL? I'm not following you.
Now this is starting to make sense. I'm not a normal user. I'm running SW in a VM through VMware. Just moved to VMware 4.0 and if memory serves, that is about the time this showed up. Hopefully VMware fixes whatever graphics bug it seems to have.
For now, I've found that if I do the JPEG as a print vs. screen grab, it seems to be fine. I haven't retested printing yet, but if it is still a problem, I'll have to boot my windows natively when I need to print.
Just something I live with for being a MAC user. Hopefully SW gets ported to MAC someday, but I'm not holding my breath.

That's interesting. I wonder if that is the web based piece that they have eluded to or something else entirely. MAC is becoming so big that I think even MCAD companies can't ignore it forever.
My company is heavy on MACs. I had my choice when I started, but chose MAC because I love them. I have kept my options open. We have a community Win7 machine and my VM is actually a bootcamp partition so I can load it natively if I need. But a native MAC option we be much welcomed.
For those that are Solidworks users in a Mac world, I've switch to Parallels. The black bar problem is now gone. Everything else I've read on virtual machines in Macs makes me believe Parallels will be an improvement, especially in the solidworks area. Maybe in a few weeks I'll check back with my experience compared to VMware.
