SW2010 approved system and graphics card mega ram 64bitW7 etc, etc, etc

I have had several parts over the last few years that get to a point where it takes minutes to get into a sketch just to edit it, then minutes when I exit out of the sketch even without doing anything, delayed response when zooming and rotating UNLESS I pre select a surface, any surface, then things are as smooth as silk when rotating and zooming, still issue with editing of course.

I have done a lot of troubleshooting this issue as each of the parts start to show the problems, most are over 500MB in file size with over 2K steps in the partfile geometry.  Even if I suppress all features, roll back to the origin and start a new sketch and new extrude, the file still reacts the same.  SW has said our parts are not corrupt, but have given no direct reasoning behind this performance issue.

I know others have seen this, just wondering if you can share your experience and results.  Doesn't seem to be directly associated to any specific geometry other than the normal aspects of splits/patterns/deleted faces/ combines etc that do cause some heaviness to the files performance.

Do to some of these performance issues, as well as the wonderful bloated file sizes I am being challenged by upper management in our mother ship to jump ship to their preferred CAD system, PTC products, which I have dealt with for a number of years in a past life and prefer not to relive that fun time if possible.

Appreciate any feedback,

Brian
