Contour rendering/Display style

Hi all

I was wondering if anyone has managed to work out how to,

- Take a screenshot from the camera view minus the boarder area/checkered background

- Most importantly take a screenshot of a contour render which is NOT actually rendered from Photoview 360.

*a really good work around for the second point would be the ability to manupilate display styles. Is there a way to make

custom display styles? My reference is taken from a well known free 3d package by a big search engine giant. However exporting the SW models

to this package is time consuming and requires reapplying materials.

Hope someone can help.

Can't you just set your display style to hidden line removed and do a screen shot?

The easiest way to take a screen shot of what you see in Photoview 360 is to press the Print Scrn button on your keyboard, open paint, and press ctrl-v to paste the screenshot there.

  I thought there would be a way to just screenshot inside the camera view alone and not the exterior of solidworks. This process is a bit time consuming with the editing required afterwards...

You can do a lot with Display states. Set one part of a component to hidden line, another to shaded with lines, another shaded without lines... Possibilities are endless. I will take screenshots all the time. One shot will be with edges, one shaded without, then adjust each one as a seperate layer in PhotoShop. Sometimes I erase a bit of one layer to get a gradient into seeing edges.

Another trick is to make a SW Drawing and save a shaded view as a pdf; then open in PhotoShop. Depending on how you have the options to PDF set, you can get some really nice results that look way better than screenshots and more illustrative than a PhotoView rendering. You can also save a SW Drawing as an Illustrator file. The lines then get their own status in the layer tree in Illustrator, which you can use to group them and change their appearance. The shaded parts of your drawing come in as a series of long images which can be tricky to select though.

  Bottom line is that I need to show my boss some concrete examples of the benefits of PS and AI with SW in regards to post processing rendering images, before they will purchase it. Any examples that you have would be much appreciated.
