I am using SW2006 SP4.0 and I was wondering how to set the
toolbox to a loation on a network, then make solidworks reference
this toolbox on multiple computers, so that everyone in using the
same toolbox. The problem is we have 3 people using the program,
all the same version, and I was hoping to be able to change this
without reinstalling the software on every computer.
Thanks for all your help, I spoke with a local SolidWorks
company and actually had a representative come and look at it. The
problem is with feature works, and he actually did not have answer.
Thanks for all your help however.
do a change/modify install on your machine. (see attached
jpeg)
redirect toolbox path to network location (use UNC or \\
convention).
then copy toolbox (make a second copy just to be safe before
doing this) folder from your local machine to this newly created
toolbox folder (overwrite newly created files).
your local copy will most likely have configurations which
you want to keep.
remaining machines can just have the toolbox.ini
modified.
I continue to recieve the same error message (see
attachment). I have copied the toolbox folder to a network, I then
changed the text file in the solidworks folder to the location of
the network toolbox. Even when I change the text file back to the
original location I continue to recieve the same error. Any
suggestions?
Okay that all works well except when launching Soliworks I
get an error message saying I am missing a file and all
applications may not work correctly. I was just supposed to copsy
the solidworks data folder under common files correct?
Open the toolbox.ini file in a program like Notepad. The very
last line should say something like "ToolboxPartFolder=" and then
some location on the harddrive. Change this line to the folder on
the network where the files will be shared. For example:
Your network folder is labeled
"\\EngineeringFolder\ToolboxData"
The toolbox.ini file should now have
"ToolboxPartFolder=\\EngineeringFolder\ToolboxData"
Do not link it to a networked drive. Link it directly using
the folder's actual address. (You can go through "My Network
Places" to get this address)
I am assuming you have moved the toolbox files over to the
network location already. Hope that helps.

I had the same problem. I think I uninstalled &
reinstalled Feature Works.
