My company is new relatively to Solidworks and at the start of this year they bought me the following workstation:

HP Z400 Workstation

Intel Xeon CPU W3520 @ 2.67 GHz

Nvidia Quadro FX 580 x 2

Windows 7 x64 SP1

22" Widescreen LG x2

Solidworks 2011 SP3 (Upgrading to SW2012 soon)

As the year has progressed I have found the machine lacking in grunt for the jobs that I'm doing. Some of the larger assemblies can be around the 500 parts mark. Also I have begun produce elaborate animations (motion studies) along with renders.

Recently my company advised me that they would definitely consider a new machine if it was going improve the current situation. I found a local company who custom build machines and came up with this spec:

Leadtek Quadro 2000 1GB
