Everyone,
Though there is a slow movement towards Model Based Definition (using the solid model to define specifications), drawings will still be a very important part of engineering for many fields and industries for many more years (decades?). As such, we are very interested in continued enhancement of SolidWorks drawing annotations.
For example, you may wish to that SolidWorks support numbered/bulleted notes that start from the bottom instead of from the top of the annotation note (similar to how tables may be ordered from the bottom up).
So, if you were in charge of SolidWorks development, what would you change with Annotations in Drawings? Where possible, please include detailed descriptions and images of your ideas.
Matthew,
I create drawings for every project here and almost certainly always will. I'm generally satisfied with the way annotations work except for the labels on Detail Views, Section Views, etc. I'm still using SW2010 but we plan to update to SW2012 in the next few months. I seem to remember you saying in another post that the font sizes in the view labels could be edited seperately in SW2012. For an example, I would prefer to have the scale call-out a smaller font than the view name. Is that what you were referring to? I would also like to be able to add another line of text to the label, such as "Typical x 3". Will that also be possible with SW2012?
Another thing that would be very helpful would be for annotation leaders to snap to horizontal and vertical.
If I think of anything else I will post again.
Thank you,
Glenn
