Toolbox hardware standard code as custom property

Hi All,

Rob from SolidWorks Product Definition here…

Does anyone out there currently define a custom property in their Toolbox parts for standard (or “code” etc)? For example, the Ansi Inch Square Head Bolt is defined in ANSI B18.2.1. Do any of you add this information to your Toolbox parts as a custom property? If so, where do you use these properties down the line (notes, BOM, other table etc)?

I suppose another good question here is - do you ever wish this information came with Toolbox parts?

I prefer not to have ANSI code.
Then again, I don't ever use square head bolts.

I would probably use BOLT, SQHD,

I personally prefer to have my own configuration driven hardware library.
As someone that used to use toolbox and have been burned badly by it,
I can see where the need to add certain custom properties would be useful.
Case in point this thread.

But as for your example with the ansi code, that usually gets spec'd out in the description.

We don't add a property for standard/specification, but we do have a "Preferred" parameter. Our users then know that this is from our preferred list in our design guide. The design guide specifies which specification the fastener is to.

But, all said, even if you don't add the standard to the ANSI parts like is done with the ISO parts (i.e. "Hex Bolt Grade C ISO 4015") I would be very happy if I could find out which specifications (and year) the toolbox parts are modelled to.
