Why won't this part unfold? In particular, the 90 degree bend on the right edge of this part. It's attached, SW2011. This particular part is the bare bones start of a box prototype

Edit your sheet metal radius, you have it set at : .000001
I changed it to .0625 and it unfolds ok, however you may want to close up the bend relief corners etc....
The reason is you can't manufacturer the part you are drawing, that is the nice thing about SW.
Do yourself a favor and cut that part out of a pc of paper and you will soon see that the flange closest to you will intersect in the other hemmed flat.
Whoops, sorry. That was a hastily created test part to post on this forum. The flanges/hem in the corner are supposed to be triangular, so when it's unfolded they almost meet. Ideally, I'd like them to actually be connected and fold together along that back edge, but one step at a time. I've uploaded an updated part that's probably a little hastily put together as well, but should get the point across
ah, thank you! Even changing it to just 0.001" seems to work. And considering the fact that this is a cardboard box, dimensions aren't exactly critical
Ok, now that you've helped me with that problem, I've got another question for you. Is it possible in SolidWorks to make that corner connect when it's flat? Basically, I want one triangle to fold 180 degrees, and one to fold 90 degrees. There would have to be another bend where the two connect of course, and a certain offset for both edges, but I've been having trouble getting it to work properly. I've posted a picture of the corner of box I'm trying to model/modify to use for our product. When it's folded it creates very clean, finished looking edges, so that no cut edge is showing, always a fold.
With sheet metal tools and be able to flatten in SolidWorks?
I do not understand the question. Can you show a folded picture and mark up in the image file what charecteristic in the folded state you are trying to achieve.

I was out most of the day Fri, so I didn't get your post till this morning. Yes you should be able to do that, the center bend is where you need to add a bend line and it looks like there is a corner bend relief slit. Give it a whirl, and if you have a problem let us know.
Well, I haven't had any luck actually modeling it in SW. But, I did manage to get something closer by using a Miter Flange along the edges, then adding that corner in MasterCam before I cut it. It's a heck of a lot closer than I was before, I just wish I could actually model it in SolidWorks and get it to work so I can make quick and easy changes and everything will carry over. Takes a lot more effort to add pieces in later.
It won't flatten because your last edge flange that you added would intersect the other edge flange you created when flattened. Supress Edge flange 2 and flatten the part and you will see that the longest you can make the second edge flange is .17 without interference
