I have just inserted a plane at assembly level and it looks crooked, should I realign my part to be parallel with one of the side of the plane? What are some potential problems in the future if I leave it like that?
I can't imagine that the borders of the plane would have any bearing on the assembly or part. Any sketches or part insertions you would use the plane for would reference the part/assembly not the plane boundaries. In theory you could expand the boundaries to infinity.
The borders of the plane have nothing to do with how things will be
projected form that plane.
How did you create it? Offset from a surface or an existing plane?
Yes, offset at 0 from surface.
When you offset it from that surface you can pick a second and even a third
point of reference if need be but again it doesn't effect what gets drawn on it.
