When is the next meeting.
We are looking at mid October right now. Announcement will be out sometime next week.
Hopefully everyone has seen the next meeting notice. We've got some really nice gifts, thanks to 3dVision, Rapid Prototype and Solid Professor.
I don't want to give away too much, but it's modeled on the "Model Like a Maniac" competition held at SolidWorks World each year. You will model a part based off a drawing then do some other cool stuff to it. (I got to keep the mystery...)
We will take the files you create, and judge them by, correct mass and total time to complete all files. If we have to tie break, it will be by least number of features. We will not have time to judge the contest during the meeting, so we will announce the results at our next meeting.
We have one special prize provided by Rapid Sheet Metal, it's a dual LCD Monitor stand. The first place student will recieve this prize. http://www.rapidsheetmetal.com/products/lcdmonitorstand.aspx Students can continue to compete for other prizes. To be considered a student, you must be taking at least 6 credit hours of classes at an institution of higher learning.
First place Student, First, Second, and Third place open winners will have to return to our meeting in December in order to claim their prize. Winners also agree to talk about their design for 5-10 mintues. Just the highlights, why you did that, shortcuts, etc... First place winner gets first choice of prize, second place gets second choice and third place gets the remaining prize.
If there are any questions, please post them here, we'll have a little FAQ going on.
Thanks and LET'S GET READY TO MODEL!!!!
I would also recommend copying your SW settings to a thumb drive and installing them on the computer you use. You can opt to bring your own laptop also. You will need to have a way to transfer files to my thumb drive for judging.
I wanted to give a thank you to our sponsors and provide some information about them. Please support them as much as they have supported us. I drew at random a name, so these are in no particular order:
