I am trying to edit an aaembly created by a preivious employee and there is a subassembly that I can not move. I've tried mates and it keeps telling me the components are fixed. How do I remove the "fixed" so I can mate the sub assembly into the main assembly??

Right click on the sub assembly and select float.
OR
In case you looking to move some of the components in the sub assembly, right click on it and select properties. Now set it flexible.

Welcome to the fourm.
If you RC on the sub assembly in the feature manager you will see a selection
to Float. Select that and you should be able to move it around.
