I am trying to follow the direction shown in the video here:

However, due to the resolution, I can't see exactly what is in the feature manager tree.  So, I have tried (unsuccessfully) to duplicate it with the attached part.

I realize that I could do a simple loft, but that would leave the crimped section solid.  However, since I am trying to use this part as a lifting device, I need to run some FEA to determine it's capacity.  Therefore, it is critical to simulate the wall thickness throughout the part. 

Granted, the attached model is merely a guess as to what the final part will actually look like, but this exercise is just an attempt to educate myself on how to propery model a part like this.  Once I get an actual part made and reverse engineered, I will (hopefully) be able to model it more accurately.
