    Large Layout Drawing using Blocks

I frequently do production line layouts that have been historically been done in AutoCAD due to the large size.  I have attempted to use SpeedPak , but the limitations on drawing functions (hatch, crop, export to AutoCAD, etc.) is proving to make this function unrealistic.  The best option so far has been to create a drawing from the individual assemblies, export to AutoCAD, then insert the dwg in the layout using blocks.  With the blocks you can use mates to align the views.

My question is, what is the best way to create a 2D block (or sketch) from an assembly?  Or does anybody have a better solution for large layout drawings that can be exported to AutoCAD?
