Has anyone put together a custom material for the mentioned subject line. I have to use these in an assembly and want to do do some motion studies and other simulations.
You should be able to create a custom material easily enough.
How much detail you need to put in there depends on what information you really need in your model. Chances are you'll just need the modulus, Poisson's and maybe density, throw on an appearance, and you'll be good to go.
If you need a resource for finding values to those properties, I would go first to matweb.com. It's relatively comprehensive, free and easy enough to navigate.
Have you looked this material up in Mat Web?
If they have it then just edit your material file in Notepad and add it.
David and Scott,
Thank you for a prompt reply. I will take a look at both links and go from there. I don't think this will be too hard and the info you both have provided will be very helpful.
I will add that depending on how many time you need custom materials, Mat Web
does offer a subscription service that will allow you to down load the material (s)
into a format that Solidworks will read. I used to do this at my old job but would edit the
master custom material file to incorporate all into one.
Good luck to you. Let us know how you make out.
