i have a question about hardware. Is improve the solidworks performance to upgrading my current 3GB RAM to 6GB in windows xp 32bit system?
3GB Is the max amount of memory your processer can address on a 32 bit processor
You have a 32 bit system and 3 GB RAM. Now if you want to upgrade the RAM to 64 bit for the 32 bit system. This will not work because 32 bit operating system will not use more than 3GB RAM. So if you want to upgrade the RAM to 6GB then you have to upgrade the opertaing sytem to 64 bit. Other wise it will be worthless.
Yes, Sammy is right.
Not only that, there is a maximum amount of memory that any single process can address in XP 32Bit. You will find that Solidworks with crash once it attempts to use more than approximately 1.8GB.
The only way to load larger assemblies / files is to upgrade to a 64Bit OS.
thanks for all to valuble comments.
