Is it good practice to position parts with a sketch?

Hi All,

So far, the parts I have designed fit neatly into each other. Now, however, I have some "priority" parts which must be in a predetermined relative position to each other. Once they are in the correct position, an in context part will be created to unite the two to avoid them being suspended in air. Example: the image below has two parts which must be in the position indicated (i will later design the part which unites them). To define the position of the smaller one (since the other is fixed in the assembly) I have created a sketch and mated the smaller part with it. Is this the correct way of doing what I intend? One of the consequences of this is that the sketch construction lines then appear in the drawing of the assembly. Do you have any alternatives? Thanks.2011072803.JPG
