Something to check is whether you can do math in a regular dim dialog box. Try 2+3 or something. If you can't then the vba stuff is not working and that may be a clue to your crashing.

It is SW2011, and the math portion works fine with all of my dimensions. Only when I try to change the linked value to something else and it tries to update it crashes.

I would try running the Solidworks Rx tool.
This tool is good for diagnosing things like this.
The Rx Tool didn't find anything. Are there any other suggestions?

Can you easily recreate this simple assembly?
Or another thought is try doing a save as copy and see if it still occurs.
I have seen in the past that having a different file name sometimes resets
things.
