Question: Is there anything out there on antivirus software that have compatibility issues with Solidworks? We just recently had a new one installed and my system is very, very slow.
We are currently use Solidworks 2008 and PDM Enterprise 2010.
Strange. It could be that it is not nod that it is slowing down your system.
I suggest using process monitor (aka sysinternals) to log what it is active on your system to find witch process or service is more active.
I have already been there. Sorry, the version we have is version 4. There doesn't seem to be any information out on this that I can find.
I'm running ESET N0D32 antivirus (version 188.8.131.52,) on my machine and it's running just fine. 64-bit Win7 with SW 2011 SP 4.0 64-bit edition, Intel Zeon processor @ 2.53GHz, 12 gigs of ram, nVidia Quadro video @ 2GB.
I have an HP 4600 workstation. I am using XP. SW is 2008 and PDM Enterprise is 2010. I have an Pentium 1.2 Ghz, 3.5 Gb ram, video is nVidia FX1800.
ESET NOD32 is 184.108.40.206.
NOD32 works fine with SolidWorks, I have set up some exclusion for solidworks files to reduce opening times.
NOD32 Antivirus (without personal firewall) was one of the lighter av on my system that provided good security. NOD32 Smart Security (with firewall) has a bigger system footprint. If you are inside your corporate firewall and dont go mobile on public networks (airports, free wifi) you might only need AV. witch one do you use? or witch color is you NOD icon on tray. green or blue?
The icon color is green. It is the business edition.
Thank you very much for this information. I will monitor my system and let you know.
