How do I control the draft suppression state and angle in a DT? I was able to do this outside a DT by applying the draft to a specific configuration but I would like to control this in DT since this is where I control everything else.
Did you try RCing on the Annotations in the feature manager to show all feature
dimensions then select the draft to show the draft dimensions and values?
Then once shown I always rename them for easy selection to import into the DT.
Ok, the problem stems from the draft being used only in one configuration. It seems you can't mix and match excel design tables with setting configuration stuff in SW's.
Config 1 has no draft applied
Config 2 has a draft applied to it only
If you try to set the draft angle in a DT SW complains that the dimension doesn't exist. Since it doesn't in config 1 it's appropriate.
The problem now is that I have to apply the draf to all configurations to be able to set it on just the ones I want.
Any ideas on how to disable the draft feature on an extrude in a design table? Basically I want to do the same in a design table as clicking the draft button in an extrude.
Thanks for all your help!!!
Just apply draft "zero" in the extrude feature. In the DT, configure only the angle.
You'd be better off to apply draft as a separate feature. That way you can suppress the draft feature when you don't need it. The design table can handle that easily.
@Alin: You can't unless by "zero" you mean the actual word *zero*. I've tried 0 and it said something like it has to be between 0.00018 and 89 degrees or something. Although I entered it in the DT rather than the actual feature properties box. I think Matt probably has the most obvious solution. Right now I'm using an angle of 0.01 for "off" but the confusing was that I had to apply the draft to all the configs so the SW's wouldn't complain about the DT. (basically if you apply a draft to config X then config Y won't have that draft angle dimension and solidworks complains about config Y not having a draft angle dimension)
@Matt: That might be the best way... not sure(performance wise). I got around it by applying the draft to all the configs and setting the ones I didn't want a draft on to have an 0.01 draft angle. Should be close enough to 0 to be "off". I do like not having an extra feature when not needed but I don't like having a draft angle of 0.01.
You are right, the DT does not accept the "0" value. The funny thing is that the extrude feature accepts it.
Alin, I used your way at first. When I went to use the DT instead this is when I ran into problems. I still don't know how to suppress the draft in an extrude in a DT. Your method requires mixing config tables and design tables which IMO is bad practice(although it's cleaner). Right now I simply have the draft enabled in all configs and set the angle in the DT. Using a 0.001 angle for "off". Not prefered but at least I have all the changes in one place.
Looks like it is a limitation. Ideally you should be able to use any negative or positive number for draft in DT. Do you have time to submit an ER in this regard.
Until it gets implemented, use Matt's suggestion.
Well, I wouldn't say a limitation but a bug
A 0 draft should effectively disable the draft.
Just here to resurrect skeletons.
I'm having this same problem in SW 2013. Any way to configure a draft angle to zero in an extrude? I'd prefer not to have to do an extra draft feature.
