I noticed that I can drag an excel spreadsheet into a model and it appears there and is editable. Therefore, can you also do the same with a design table....have it show in the model?
Call up the DT and save it out as an Excel spreadsheet.
Then insert that into your drawing.
I hope you are not planning on editing your model from the
inserted drawing DT, because that wont happen.
Why would you want the DT in the model?
The part model is an "interactive" tool used by non-SolidWorks users. So, to make it as easy as possible, I wanted to have the spreadsheet visible. Then they can change the values and see the results.
Not the end of the world but I enjoy trying to figure out how to use SolidWorks in ways it probably wasn't intended.
use Configuration Publisher for that: http://help.solidworks.com/2011/english/solidworks/sldworks/allcontent/solidworks/core/configuration/c_cfgpub_overview.htm
Unless I'm mistaken, the Config Publisher menu only appears when you insert the part into an assembly. In my case, the user just opens the part model, makes some changes, executes a macro which exports an excel file with the data they need.
Take a look at https://forum.solidworks.com/thread/14544 for an example.
Have you tried DriveWorksXpress?
