Is it possible to insert a column in a BOM but only to one row.?
I want to add a comment onto some items but not all. It would be good to have it as one table only, at the moment Im creating several.
BOM 1 picture is how it looks if i just insert a column.
BOM 2 picture is how i want it to look but without having to create a new table
any help would be great!!!

I don't believe there is any way to only add a column to one row. If it were me I would just add a comment column to the entire table and if a line item doesn't have a comment then that cell remains blank. But that is just my opinion.

I see what you mean. Yes it would be nice to have that kind of flexibility with BOM's but, sadly, we don't.

Not in Solidworks. You can create that in Excel by outlining the cells you want
then insert that into SW through insert>object>browse.
Good idea but except for the dangling added cells on the right the other box's will have information from my parts.
Which Im guessing if you import from excel you will lose all the associative informtaion from the parts????

you can edit the cells once in SW and point them to a custom property
if indeed it is a custom property you are trying to link. Or if it isn't maybe
find a way to link it to a property.
Ok probably far to complex as i would want to make this a template in an assy with many parts, so i could use it over and over.
