I am very unhappy with how SW works with views. I hate being the guy who says "the old software did this better". But I am that guy (again) today...
If I highlight a surface and click the "normal" view I get a normal view that is upside down. How do I define which direction is up? I want the red fangers at 12:00, not 6:00.
Clicking normal to plane gets me a view of the other side.
A simple normal view is set by the plane normals. The simple way to get what you want is to pick the face you want to be normal and then ctrl-select another face that is in the "up" direction as you choose. The advantage of this method is that the "up" direction face doesn't have to be perpendicular to the first - it just has to be that direction. This method gives you the latitude to view a normal to anything.
