I try to make some kind of roller blind.
I think good idea to use path mate, but I do something wrong.
After few movements elements of assembly changed place in strange way.
What I'm doing wrong? See attached assembly.
Is this what you are trying to do?
Your path had too many points, So I converted it to a spline then added a path mate to the new sketch. I found that it doesn't move sometimes. So if you re-do the second path mate it moves along the way you want it. Might be a bug.
Michael, Your example works fine.
I did the same (new path - spline) in my assembly.
But - please see my model, I can't made correct mates, still works badly
Could You fix my assembly?
I would be doing your job for you but I can direct you so you can learn to do it yourself.
Create a 3D sketch -> Select the edges of your roller shutter frame (this will be the path your shutters will follow) -> Convert to entinties -> then select all the entinties, go to spline tools and convert it to "Fit Spline"
Then you will have your working path and just apply the same mates as the example I did earlier.
Michael, please see my attachment (the second one) - path is done, mates done, but still behaviour of elements are unexpected...
I did look at it and it was the same as I wrote earlier but here is an example with 2 of them working.
Michael, I try to moove strips/bars and what was happend:
Checked on two different workstations (then isnot a bug propably).
This problem has annoyed me for a while working on animations but if you re-do one of the mates it does work. Did the 2 work when I sent it to you? they worked on mine all the way too.
The reason it is flipping is because you have to set a % in the path mate. Right click and modify a percentage to begin and end with.
This is because when you manually move it, when it flips the shutter (although its wrong) it is still conincident to the mate. I am going to attach another file.
This was happend in assembly made by You...
Have you modelled the shutters in context to this assembly?
No, they are separate parts.
Does it matter?
No, I was just trying to work out where it was modelled. Still getting the same bug. I will try tomorrow.
Thanks, see You.
I have updated the model and an animation. The problem was that the path mate was solving itself in 2 directions (pointed out by Tom Arthur) To solve this next time dont draw a path that extends the length of the part. See motion study.
Michael, thanks for answer, but something is wrong.
Parts of your assembly has no mates, I can drag each part...
