Hello,
Could anyone tell me if there is any way that I could simulate a spherical object made of
rubber (or whatever else) pressing against a flat plate to view the contact patch that is created?
I think the main problem that I am having regards defining the initial point contact that exists
between the sphere and the plate; the program doesn't seem to automatically detect it which
leads me to believe that this might not be possible.
I would create a small flat surface on the sphere to allow easier mating between that
area and the plate, but the point of this study is to view the contact patch that is
created, and I feel that this would damage the results. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you very much!
Respectfully,
Austin Allen
Here's the same study with a metal plate and rubber ball. The load has been reduced to 10 lbs.
