Is there any standard method in SW for modeling spot welds in the part and then linking to a callout on the drawing? How do you guys handle spotwelds in the models/drawings?
Not really, but I would look into creating either a datum target or a point
that can be referenced in your drawing.
Ok...that is what I thought.
One of the ways I used to indicate the position of a spot weld was to was to use an asterisk symbol. Is there any way to put that on a drawing?.....or some similar symbol?
I would look at some of the symbology when you start an annotation
note. In the property manager you will see the symbol that shows a CL
and if you click on that there are a bunch of different symbols you can
choose from. I believe in there is weld symbols. I personally have always
just used the weld symbols in the annotation toolbar.
Ok, I ended up using sketch entities to create location of spot weld indicators on the drawing. See figure 3.8 to see what I was talking about. It is the little asterisk looking things. Then I pointed the normal weld symbol to those areas. Little time consuming but actaully once I did the first one I got pretty fast.
In Drawings, Select Annotations (see image) Select Weld Symbols (see Image)
Spot Welds are represented as a circle. (see image)
If I was drawing on model I would draw the circle (then Patten as required) and use Split feature
I have the symbols called out. I was thinking more about dipicting the layout on the part. Back in the day, I used to mark the postions of the actual spot weld right on the part along with the symbol callout.
