Does someone have step by step instruction on how to fill gaps with weld. (what faces and or eges to select)
I have tried selecting various faces, but always get and error:
Failed to create weld bead(s) due to invalid selections/data.
It may be the way the flanges were created to get that outside corner. I did a mitre corner and it worked fine.
Keith, I can't quite tell because it's dark but can you remove that overhang on the one flange? That would fix the weld bead problem.
No the gap gets filled then sanded to the shape for a clean finish.
Keith, give me a second and I'll open up a weld bead part I'm working on and shot you a picture.
The first one shows in red the extension, whether it be a closed corner feature or just an extension of that particula face.
The second one shows the weld bead feature with any extension.
There's really no need for the extension is what I'm pointing out.
Did that help or hurt?
It's most likely a procedural thing on my part, I have three unique fills and none of them work for me.
I would think I would be able to selet the edges or faces I want to bridge, but thats not the case.
Here is what I'm doing.
1. Insert --> Weldments --> Weld Bead
2. under weld selection: Selecting all of the the faces I want the weld to Bridge.
3 Hit the check mark . I get error
As you can see one is a simple bride accross two faces, I cant get any instance to work.
How about trying them one at a time. Let's try the center one first, how many faces are you selecting? It should only be one face, the software will figure the rest. Van you post the file? I'm still on SW2010.
I'm on 2011, I get invalide selection error, I have tried every way I can think of.
Thanks for the help, original part is not mine, Ii will have to redraw.
