That is incorrect. I am using IE6. I think you are seeing my Yahoo stuff (see image)

I see that you are using Internet Explorer 7. Is this supported in the 2007 portal? Thanks.

Hi Folks -

Just wanted to also pass along something that web portal users might find useful.
In the 2007 release of the web portal we have added a 'search portal'. This provides an alternate method for users to find documents in the vault. Many times, users know the document name they are searching for.
Attached are some images of the search portal.

  Keep in mind when using the web portal, it doesn't not default to the latest version. This is dangerous when dealing with casual users that just go with what ever they see first.

    I have discovered this problem too. People who just use the searchportal inevitably grab the wrong revision because of this.
    
    Have you also noticed that the results for every searchcontain duplicates?

Thanks David,
I'll let the users know as soon as I get back now from holidays. Sent a message telling about the setting and had a good and positive response from the users so far. Why is it that the resellers can't tell you about these little tricks when you tell them that your having issues?

Glad it helped. Just be aware of what Peter said about cookies. If your users are made aware of this setting they can ensure that the value remains set.

Just tried your your setting to 50 and that made a difference. Yes each of the folders holding the pdf drawings contain 1500+ drawing and using this setting really made a difference. Will notify the other users within the orginization of this option and hopefully we'll no have happier users.

Hi Wolfgang,

Is your folder with PDFs in excessively large? It's better to have lots of smaller folders than one big one. Also, there is a setting in the web portal called Project ranges. It reorganises your vault display into document ranges. It makes the vault work faster. The setting is found from the select labels button. We have set our value to 50. It needs to be set on each machine. Also, make sure that when you have set the value that you then hit the ok button below it. This is sometimes not visible on smaller monitors as there is no scroll bar. You can get to it by tabbing.

We have all drawing within the orginisation converted to pdf's so that other departments can open released drawings in the Webportal. This is cause all PC/Workstations have Adobe Reader but not everyone has Edrawings or Solidworks Viewer. Also for outside clients its easier.
We have the drawings sort in project folder in the 'Released For Production' according to their size which also makes up part of the drawing number.
The trouble is that opening the project folder which has the PDF's is so slow. Yet when showing the folders which have just SW files it's almost instant.
Is there anyway to be able to speed things up? (On average about 20 - 30sec to open the folder each time).
Is 2007 able to handle pdf's better?
Does anybody else out there in the wide world have this sort of problem also?
We where told by our Reseller that PDMWorks would have no problems with PDF's, Microsoft Office documents and the like yet other than SW files it's as slow as with people within the orginisation complaining about the time it takes to open the drawing folders.
Views and option would be appreciated.

Peter, Thanks for that. I didn't realize it used cookies. Doh! That explains why the machines seem to go back to 0. For us, using this option has made the web portal usable. It just wasn't before.

I beleive setting this option creates a cookie in Internet Explorer. If users delete cookies, then upon the next log-in to the portal, they will need to set this option again. We have one project with about 6900 drawings files in it (both ACAD and SolidWorks) and setting this option and using 200 as our value has made all the difference. There is no lag in opening the files to view, only in having Internet Explorer try to refresh a view of 6900 documents when options are not set to display ranges.
