Solid Works crashes when I try to do this cut. I've done this before and I believe this must be a bug in the 2011 SP 3.0. If I do the cut upwards throught the part SW crashes when I do the flatten command. If I do the cut halfway up or not through the flange, flatten the part works. I've attached pictures and the part so who that wants to try and help me have the opportunity. Open the part and try the cutting and flattening of my part.
Okey! Thank you for trying. For me it doesn't matter if I have the Normal Cut checked or unchecked. I hope there will be someone with SP3,0 who will try this.
Can you upgrade to SP 4 and check.
I have SW 2011 -- EV SP 4 and it flattens no problem.
Deepak- When I try to fold the part attached and you have flattened, my SW crashes. Strange...
Most certainly a bug - please send it in even if it looks like SP4 works. (I'm on SP3 at this point.)
I find a few things worth having them look into. The easiest workaround is to put in an unfold and for your flat pattern, unsuppress that instead.
I find it interesting that if I delete the vertical line for the flange, it works fine, which fits with not cutting all the way through the flange. I thought this was a case of the fixed face changing. But then I added an edge flange to one of the top edges - worked fine. Then I added an edge flange to the other edge at the top in order to replicate the original, and this is a separate feature and not even the same height. Then it will crash. Hmm.
