Hopefully somebody can answer this...
We are getting quotes on hardware for Epdm and we the database server we are getting quotes on has 2 physcial quad core drives.
Does anyone know if I would need 2 licenses of SQL..? One for each drive?
You do not need to buy any SQL. A license of it comes with EPDM.
1 license comes with it, but this server is running 2 physical drives and I need to know if i need another license for the second drive.
I am not sure what you mean by 2 quad core drives. I am assuming that you mean 2 quad core processors.
EPDM comes with a Standard edition of SQL Server 2008 R2. According to MS website that edition supports 4 CPUs. Now the question is are cores CPUs. From what I read, no, but I did see something that it was to change in 2008 R2.
I am not even sure if you can run EPDM with two SQLs.
I do not believe you need two licenses. As has been stated SQL standard supports up to 4 CPUs.
I am running it on two quad core Xeons. I don't believe this is an issue.
