Flipping Bend Direction in Sketch Bend

Hi,

I am trying to create a sheet metal from a flat sheet and bending it accordingly using sketched Bend option, but when i create multiple sketches it always bending inside the sheet metal. Is there any way we can edit the angle of that bend?

Correct Answer

I think you need Direction and Angle control for each sketch segment in present in single sketch.

This is not possible in single command yet.Yes, you can do it with multiple sketches with multiple bend commands.

Hi,

I have been using the Sheetmetal features, and while using the Sketched Bend, in the Sketch Bned options there is a direction flip button provided, also in the same options the option to change the bend angle is provided.

By the way which version of SolidWorks are you using?

  Thanks Yusuf!! Your option basically works fine for sketch bends which have only one sketch bend line but in my case i used three lines for one sketch bend feature so it is difficult to control the angle of that sketch bend. Attached file explains this...I used Solidworks 2010 sp4 to model.

    Hi Ram,
    
    See attached picture for your problems in file .
    And
    why are you not creating the final part with sheetmetal and then Flat it?
    Instead of using Bend you can use Edge flange to achieve this result in simple manner.

      Hi Ajay!!! i am pretty familiar with option which you attached. I was in a process to decrease the cost for manufacturing so i am trying to design the sheet metal part which are being made from the left over sheet metal. I feel this procedure can make it possible. Its R&D Project though but it will end up with mass production...
      
      I feel it is kind of limitation for sketch bend feature being unable to play with bend angle and direction at the multiple sketch bend lines (sketch bend1, sketch bend2, sketch bend3 etc..,.)

        Yes Ajay!!! Obviously using multiple Sketch bend features is only way to do it.
