I have a tubular truss. I am trying dimension from the centerline of the tube. SW will not snap to the centerline, even when the filter is set to centerlines only.
If you are talking about what I think you are you have to sketch a centerline in.
Not select an axis.
Usually when SW will not select an entity for dimensioning it's because that entity is part of a different view than the other entity selected for the dimension. Try selecting it and one of the edges of the tube that created the centerline just to see if that's even available. I am presuming you placed the centerline with the centerline annotation?
On further investigation, the line I am trying to dimension to is a sktch line from the model. The weird part is, I have sketch view turned off. I suspect that is why I can't pick it. I don't understand why it is still visible. Also, when I wanted the sketches to show, I couldn't get them to show.
If you turn off the sketches in view>sketches I suspect it will go away from sight.
Sketches are turned off. I manually placed the centerline (Insert, Annotations, Centerlines) to get the dimension.
No that wont work. It has to be a sketched centerline from within the sketch mode.
In my experience, it's usually easiest to just add an infinite length centerline and align it with whichever axis or geometric entity to like.
