We have the following issue:

We have an assembly with a few sub-assemblies and parts. When we modify a part in a sub-assembly, and then open the main assembly, the changes is not reflected in the main assembly (the sub-assembly reflects the part before modification).Although, when we open the sub-assembly, the changes to the specific part are reflected. We then save the sub-assembly and re-open the main assembly, but, again NO changes on the sub-assembly (part in sub-assembly reflects NO modification). It seems that changes made does not update through each and every folder that the part are saved in.Could this be a setting etc. in the system? We are using Solidworks 2011 SP03.

Hi Chris,

Did you try Ctrl+Q (Rebuild) In Subassembly and main assembly?

If you have Configurations in model Check which one is currently active in assembly?

Check the reference of the model in assembly as that is same part you looking for?

Chris,

If you have made the changes and still have the part open and the changes are not reflected

in the sub assembly/ top level assembly then that tells me it is reading a different part file.

Try opening up the assembly then in the feature tree opening up that part. Make the changes and

it should reflect back. Or edit the part within the assembly environment.

Another proof of this is if you RC on the component and select references,

is the path the same as where you were calling it up from.

Chris,

It sounds like you have multiple instances of the same part with the same name in different folders. If that's true, then I'm pretty sure that any changes made will only be reflected in that one part in that location. It won't carry over to the others because SW thinks it's a different part since it's in a different folder.
